During a March ESOL Class, staff from the Horniman Museum to introduce the museum’s eclectic collection to students. They brought with them various objects from the Horniman for students to handle and discuss, including a stuffed parakeet, an instrument made out of baobab fruit, various masks and a beautiful Maasai beaded necklace.
Some Learners brought in their own objects from home that held significance to them personally. Having discussed the museum pieces, learners showed each other their personal treasures and shared the stories behind them.
Learners were really keen to find out more about the Horniman Museum, and were encouraged to visit the museum on their own. A trip next term is already planned!
