Our summer fun has come to an end at the Adventure Playground. Over four weeks of our Summer Holiday Play Scheme we welcomed 180 young people for adventure play, trips out and workshops!
We started the summer by unveiling our new High Trees bus to the young people. The bus has proved a popular hangout spot and served as a great shelter from the British summer weather!
During the second week of the scheme, the Brixton BMX club visited the playground with bikes and ran a crash course for the young people. At the end of the summer, we then paid a trip to the Brockwell Park track so they could put their skills into practice!
Other highlights include our trips out and about. We headed down to Jos Bay for a beach day, we had an energetic trip out to Flip Out Trampolining and celebrated the end of summer by visiting Water Wipeout!
We also hosted the Building Young Brixton Summer Party with young people from Marcus Lipton, IRMO and The Baytree Centre visiting to join in the fun. It was a great day with Inflatable Hungry Hippos, a giant water fight and face painting!
The playground’s usual after-school and Saturday sessions will resume from the 6th of September. This term we’ll also be offering free dance classes every Monday for young people aged 8-16 who attend our after school sessions! Head to our activities page to book your place.
