“Inspiring! Great to hear from members of the steering group and how the network has supported and amplified their work.”
Earlier this month, the Lambeth Community Research Network (LCRN) hosted its official Membership Launch Event. This partnership brings together voluntary and community organisations, academics and research bodies, with an interest and expertise in community-based research. The event was a fantastic opportunity for participants from a diverse range of Lambeth public and voluntary and community sector organisations to connect and collaborate.
The event featured inspiring talks from LCRN partners, including Milk Honey Bees, IRMO (Indoamerican Refugee and Migrant Organisation) and the Lambeth Peer Action Collection (LPAC), who shared insights from their resent research projects. We also heard from the Violence, Health, and Society (VISION) consortium, who shared an academic perspective on community-based research, and from a funder, The Walcot Foundation.
Throughout the afternoon, there was plenty of time for networking and engaging in interactive activities. Attendees had the chance to ask questions about LCRN membership and its ethics review process, contribute to our Lambeth research landscape map, and shape the content of our future databank.
Following this successful launch, more than 20 groups have now applied to join LCRN, and we’re excited to start welcoming new members soon. Our next event is also just around the corner! The first in our LCRN training series takes place on Tuesday 8th April, 2pm – 4pm, focusing on ‘Getting Started on a Community Research Project’. This session is open to all – sign up here!
