We’re excited to announce that four organisations have now received grants from the Tulse Hill Health and Wellbeing Fund! Congratulations to St Martin’s Community Centre, Wandle Fields Residents Association, St Matthew’s Project and Brixton BMX Club.
These local organisations are gearing up to launch or expand the following health and wellbeing initiatives:
- St Martin’s Community Centre are setting up a Men’s Shed for men aged over 50 as a space for local residents to connect and learn new practical skills.
- Wandle Fields Residents Association is hosting a BBQ and Fun Day on 2nd November to bring together local residents and explore potential improvements to the estate.
- St Matthew’s Project are running a family fitness programme on Tulse Hill and St. Matthew’s estates. Sessions are already underway on Tulse Hill estate, taking place in Jubilee Hall on Saturdays.
- Brixton BMX Club are offering taster BMX sessions for young people, in partnership with local organisations. A group of young people took part in their first session this week, with one saying, ‘BMX is fun and lets you be yourself’, while another young person noted, ‘The best part is flying through the air.’
A second round of funding will soon be allocated to more local organisations. More on this coming soon!
