We’re incredibly pleased with the outcome of our recent pre-employment training course for Bus Drivers, which resulted in five out of six learners receiving job offers in the transport sector! The pre-employment training is an intensive, one-week long course, designed to equip candidates with the skills needed to secure a job in a specific sector. By partnering closely with employers, we ensure that our candidates receive the best possible preparation before applying for a job.
For our most recent pre-employment training, we were delighted to welcome Transport UK, who provided invaluable insights into their recruitment process for Bus Driver roles. This process includes an English and maths assessment, a practical driving test and a competency-based interview.
Throughout the training course, learners were guided to identify the key skills that would make them strong candidates for the role. They explored Transport UK’s values and learned how to highlight their transferable skills during interviews. Each learner participated in a mock interview and received constructive feedback from the tutor. Our Employment and Careers team also provided personalised assistance with CVs and job applications.
We were thrilled to find out that three out of the six learners passed all parts of the job interview process and were offered full-time positions as Bus Drivers for Transport UK. Since the training, two of the remaining learners went on to receive job offers from other transport companies and one is receiving further employment support.
